Auction Results: Photographs, December 13, 2022 @Doyle

The results of the recent Photographs sale at Doyle in New York generally met expectations. The top lot Annie Leibovitz portrait sold above its estimate range, and with an overall Buy-In rate under 25% and a handful of positive surprises, the Total Sale Proceeds (of just under $200K) fell squarely in the middle of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top lot by High estimate was lot 2057, Annie Leibovitz, Dan Akroyd and John Belushi [Blues Brothers], 1978, estimated at $15000-25000; it was also the top outcome of the sale at $28350 (image above, via Doyle).

Only 59.21% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were a total of 6 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate)  (images above via Doyle):
