This selection of Asian photography was drawn from the booths at Paris Photo 2023. JTF (just the facts): A total of 40 black and white and 2 color photographs, generally framed in black and matted, and hung in the small single room gallery space, the entry area, and the office area. All of the black and white works are gelatin silver prints, made between 1968 and 2017, shown in a mix of vintage and later prints. Physical sizes range from roughly 8×10 to 17×23 inches (or reverse), and Moriyama does not edition his prints. All of the works are digital gelatin silver prints, made in 2017. Physical sizes range from roughly 8×10 to 60×44 inches (or reverse), with the tall panels sized at roughly 60×20 inches. The results from Christie’s recent various owner Photographs sale in New York were largely underwhelming. A Diane Arbus print led the way and found a buyer, but with only 2 positive surprises matched against a 33% Buy-In rate overall, the Total Sale Proceeds came in meaningfully under the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range....
